CBOSS Solution to Enable SMS Voting for Russians in ‘Eurovision 2004’

Mforum.ru, 12.05.2004

The 2004 Eurovision Song Contest final takes place in Istanbul on May 15. The Russian audience will be able to watch the contest broadcast live on Channel One Russia.

This year Russians will have an opportunity to vote online for their favorite performers by making telephone calls or by sending SMS messages. Channel One Russia has selected their official partners for the online voting procedure — the leading Russian telephony operator Rostelecom and a leading provider of interactive TV services, Soyuztelecom.

The services offered by Souyztelecom, a CBOSS customer, to its Russian audience are based on CBOSSvote, a system designed to allow online voting.

CBOSSvote allows online interaction with a wide audience through marketing research, polls, free and paid contests, trivia games, and betting functionalities. CBOSSvote receives the participants’ answers to predetermined questions, saves the information from calls to the database and aggregates the data for further analysis.

To participate in a vote or contest, the subscriber first has to call or send an SMS or USSD message to a multi-line number. The subscriber will then be sent the subject matter of the vote and a number of multiple-choice questions. If the subscriber already knows the subject and possible answers, he/she can choose an answer. Voting can also be done from a Web site.

Several TV channels have already enjoyed the advantages of CBOSSvote to arrange interactive voting in the «Stars Factory» project (Channel One Russia), «One of Two» (MuzTV) and others.
