ReCom Mobile Operator and CBOSS Association Sign Contract for Enhancing Operation Support System Capacity from 700 Thousand to 1.2M Subscribers

MOSCOW, June 16. /PRIME-TASS/. “ReCom” OJSC mobile operator and CBOSS Association have signed a contract for enhancing the capacity of the Convergent Business Operation Support System /CBOSS/ from 700 thousand to 1.2 million subscribers, as reported by the Association press service.
The Convergent Business Operation Support System /CBOSS/ is an integrated software/hardware solution intended for automation of any type of telecom activities. The CBOSS solution enables service rating by using a flexible tariff system. It ensures a complete cycle of subscriber servicing; billing and call rating in real time; and settlements with subscribers. The system also enables automated financial control; inventory control, automation of sales; accounting data preparation; and support of interaction between roaming partners, dealers, and service providers. The solution provides for a report system – presentation of both summary and detailed info on all the business processes of a company. The system supports interaction with network switching equipment.
The system application area covers cellular communications of GSM and CDMA2000 /IMT-MC/ standards, fixed network /PSTN/, transit networks and interconnect, IP billing, roaming data processing, etc.
Apart from increasing the number of licenses within the billing system, the contract stipulates enhancing the configuration of a number of value-added products:
- Automatic Customer Care CBOSSacc – from 700 thousand to 1.2 million subscribers;
- Voice/Fax Mail System CBOSSvmail – from 150 thousand to 200 thousand mailboxes;
- Internet Customer Care CBOSSics – from 700 thousand to 1.2 million subscribers.
According to the contract, the technical features of the Internet Sales Point CBOSSisp, Short Message Service Center CBOSSsms and the corresponding Web interface CBOSSsms/w/, Decision Support System CBOSSdss, External Resources Management System CBOSSmdDrive, User Defined Reports CBOSSudr, and of a number of other products are also to be upgraded.
“ReCom” OJSC – a mobile operator in Chernozemie, a 100 percent subsidiary of “Mobile TeleSystems” OJSC /MTS/ – was registered as a legal entity in Orel on February 26, 1998. On May 15, 1998, the company received licenses for providing GSM900 standard cellular communications services in the territory of the six regions of Central Chernozemie /Orel, Kursk, Bryansk, Belgorod, Lipetsk, and Voronezh/. The ReCom network incorporates four switches and more than 260 base stations. It ensures the coverage of the territory for over 85% inhabitants of the six regions of the license area, as well as the major highways of the region. As of April 20, 2004, the subscriber volume of ReCom Company amounted to 670 thousand active users.
