"What Are You Doing at CeBIT?" Interview of Andrey Morozov, President of CBOSS Association, to A. Boyko, MForum correspondent in Hanover

mforum.ru March 22, 2004

Mobile Forum: There were few Russian mobile companies that had their own booths at CeBIT. A "Mobile Forum" correspondent met with all the leading exhibitors - CBOSS, "Euroset" and InterStep. We asked the companies the same question "What are you doing here?"  Andrey Morozov, President of CBOSS answers this question for "Mobile Forum" readers.

Andrey Morozov: What are we doing at CeBIT? We are here to break stereotypes!

Mr. Morozov began the interview with a rather spicy Soviet-time joke about a Japanese delegation at a machinery enterprise praising human reproduction as the most efficient kind of production in the USSR.

Unfortunately, the opinion that Russian companies are incapable of quality production is widely spread not only in Western countries, but also here, in Russia. Strange as it may seem, some businesses are guided by fetishes and prejudices instead of unbiased criteria and figures.

As an active mobile user, I had a chance to test the quality of famous brand technologies - for example, while in the UK and Germany, I got really mad with the endless bugs of the SMS center of a well-known western manufacturer installed in my operator's home network. Instead of one text message, I was receiving its clones in dozens each several minutes.

Then I asked my correspondents to send me SMS trough a Russian SMSC. No problems occurred, while the cost of the Russian solution is ten times lower!

Some time ago Japanese manufacturers put Made-in-Russia marks to their goods to convince the customers in their high quality. We see that things are changing. What do you think about Russians acquiring a Japanese high-tech business in order to improve the quality of the products? Is it nonsense or prospective development? I believe we are able to pursue changes on a higher level of evolution.

What will Russia produce within the international labor division system - hydrocarbons or high technologies? We are here in Germany to declare that there is a choice. The choice between deprecated provision of natural resources and technological progress.

Mobile Forum: CBOSS didn't go unnoticed at CeBIT'2004. A brief article about CBOSS in one of German newspapers under the title "Eastern Europe is in More Demand at CeBit Than Ever", says: Ekaterina (21), Maria (20) and Masha (20) are eager to show everything they have, but still more eager are they to present the products of CBOSS, a Russian company. It is not only the expansion of the European Community to the east that facilitates growth of future markets from Croatia to Russia. More and more companies from the old Eastern block are specializing in IT, which they show at CeBIT.
