PALO ALTO, Calif., May 30, 2007 – HP today announced a new entry-class Integrity NonStop server for small and medium telecommunications operators.
The HP Integrity NonStop NS3000AC Server is a high-performing system that enables multi-national operators, especially in emerging markets, to accelerate growth through delivery of new and innovative telecommunications applications such as Home Location Register (HLR), real-time billing, value-added services and messaging.
“Growing businesses increasingly face the same business challenges as their larger, wellestablished competitors and are oftentimes priced out of large-scale, fault-tolerant systems,” said Bob Kossler, director of Integrity NonStop product management, Business Critical Systems, HP. “The NS3000AC Servers provide the always-on availability and real-time access to critical business applications of the Integrity NonStop platform that is the cornerstone of an Adaptive Infrastructure, but at a price point that is affordable for more businesses.”
Designed to adapt to the growing use of mobile devices, especially in emerging markets, the NS3000AC platform easily adjusts to the dynamic application requirements of new or small and medium telecommunications companies.
“Many parts of the world where ITS plays are fast-growing regions. Today, operators in these regions may start with an entry-level system, then tomorrow, they may have to grow quickly,” said Arshad Syed, chief executive officer, ITS. “And the NonStop server platform offers true linear scalability to help these operators adapt to changing business needs.”
New operators are under intense pressure to remain competitive in the highly saturated telecommunications marketplace. System downtime can lead to service interruptions which, in turn, can result in negative business consequences such as loss of revenue and customer attrition. The NS3000 AC mitigates this risk by providing large-system equivalent performance and functionality at a small to medium business-friendly price.
“Our globally proven innovative fully convergent billing solution based on real-time CBOSSrtb (rtBilling™) module already helps leading operators around the world achieve their business operations targets,” said Andrey Morozov, president, CBOSS. “We expect that the HP Integrity NonStop NS3000AC Server will be cost-effective, as to help us to further reduce the already class leading low TCO of our full function technologies and significantly increase their affordability for start-up and medium size operators, mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) and emerging markets players, thus helping to create a whole new set of customers for CBOSS.”
The HP Integrity NonStop NS3000AC is based on the HP NonStop Value Architecture (NSVA) and includes fully integrated hardware and software, enabling application availability and fault tolerance right out of the box.
The integrated hardware, operating system, and database stack not only provide for the ultimate in scalability but also contribute to a server platform with the highest built-in reliability, availability and serviceability (RAS) levels in the industry. Powered by the Intel Itanium® 2 processor, the NS3000AC offers standards-based architecture that allows for easy upgrades to future Itanium chip generations, providing investment protection and low cost of ownership. Supported configurations include: two or four processors per node, four or eight gigabytes of memory and the ability to connect up to 9 terabytes of disk storage per system using internal disks.
For Intelligent Network (IN) applications, HP provides via the HP OpenCall Intelligent Network Server (INS) software several interfaces between the Integrity NonStop NS3000AC Server and Signaling System 7 (SS7) networks. Compliance for MTP, SCCP, TCAP, and ISUP protocol layers is per the ITU-T White Book and the ANSI Issue 3 standards. Support for China and Japan TTC SS7 standards is also provided.
The HP Integrity NonStop NS3000AC Server is now available in all regions. More information on the entire line of HP Integrity NonStop servers is available at www.hp.com/go/integritynonstop.
