CBOSS in Afghanistan

A new Afghan start-up carrier, WaselTelecom, enters the market with the convergent solution from CBOSS.

A new CDMA network operator is scheduled to go live in the North of Afghanistan. The start-up will provide Mobile, Fixed wireless and Data services. With one Fixed and CDMA National Operator (AfghanTelecom) and four GSM players already on the market, WaselTelecom had to make a very careful choice of the software and hardware solution that would automate corporate functions, allow the company to deploy the full range of services within tight timeframes and enter an intensely competitive battle.

To achieve the goals set, WaselTelecom opted for the comprehensive convergent IT solution from CBOSS, based on the postpaid billing and customer care system CBOSSbcc and prepaid billing solution CBOSSprepaid. Offering a wider choice of tariffs, WaselTelecom will be able to successfully differentiate itself from the competition.

Acting as a single supplier of the whole IT infrastructure in WaselTelecom, CBOSS completed the preliminary compatibility testing of its products with the switching hardware from Samsung. The flexibility of the CBOSS industrial solution and its open architecture were the key success enablers.

WaselTelecom is to become the first Afghan telecom operator to actively promote the Internet self-care services. For this purpose, the solution from CBOSS includes the CBOSSics Internet Customer Service and CBOSSwcc Web Customer Care.

WaselTelecom is also aiming to quickly capture the leadership position in the Afghan mobile Internet market and provide EVDO-based high-speed data services. This line of services will be supported by the CBOSSip Internet Platform.

CBOSSsms Short Message Service Center in WaselTeelcom is equipped with gateways for SMS conversion to ICQ, email and voice. To offer even greater customer convenience, the functionality of SMS interconnectivity between different network technologies is also available in WaselTelecom.

CBOSSmissedCall Missed Call Notification Service, included into the comprehensive solution supplied, will allow the carrier to boost its traffic by 3-5%. Also important for a developing country, CBOSSsplitCharging Split Charging Service allows subscribers to make collect calls or split charges in equal proportions between the called and calling parties. Similarly to CBOSSmissedCall, the solution also increases paid traffic.
