Automatic CDR Collection System

CBOSSmdCDR is a reliable, high performance mediation solution for automatic collection of service usage data. The system is specifically designed to retrieve, process, and queue data for the “hot” rating.

System Operation

Data sources
CBOSSmdCDR collects data from the switch in both the synchronous (scheduled or on manual launch) and asynchronous (switch-initiated) modes. In addition, the system collects rating data from various databases (e.g. SMSC DB) and external data media (including remote PCs).
CBOSSmdCDR modular architecture allows cost-effective customization to support new data sources.

Data recipients
CBOSSmdCDR delivers data to the billing and traffic engineering systems. Capability to send data to any external media (including remote PCs) and other mediation systems enables a distributed file reception mechanism for geographically remote switches.

Functionalities

  • File collection from various external sources
  • File deletion from an external source
  • File processing: archiving, backup, renaming, header conversion, etc.
  • File export to the local file server, external medium (CD), or a remote PC
  • Creation of requests for automatic CDR rating
  • Manual mode
  • Flexible user interface: screensets are configurable to suit operator preferences
  • Data loss protection: in case of failure, the operation data is saved, ensuring successful operation fulfillment later. For instance, in case of connection failure, CBOSSmdCDR saves the queued files and continues export after the connection is reestablished.

Integration

CBOSSmdCDR is seamlessly integrated with CBOSSbcc. Open architecture allows integration with third party billing systems.
CBOSSmdCDR supports file collection from Ericsson, Alcatel, Qualcomm, Lucent Technologies, Siemens, Huawei, Italtel, Nokia, Motorola, Nortel, and other switches. Open architecture and customizability contribute to exceptional compliance with client equipment.
CBOSSmdCDR can be used by traffic engineering systems, e.g. CBOSSte, to collect statistics from the switch.
Integration with network management systems, e.g. CBOSStmn, enables monitoring of CBOSSmdCDR operation and fast response to alarms.

Benefits

  • Improved QoS
Hot rating enables timely account balance updates and higher customer loyalty.
  • Reduced OPEX
Automated rating data collection allows lower labor and financial expenses.
  • Reliability
Post-failure recovery ensures full data integrity.
  • Optimal configuration
Modular architecture allows customers to select an optimal CBOSSmdCDR configuration.
  • Customization
Unified connection and configuration of new data sources allows cutting integration costs.
