Functionalities and Benefits of the EXS CSP Switching Platform
The Expandable Switching Converged Services Platform (EXS CSP) from Cantata Technology is a convergent scalable solution offering a wide range of functionalities. This high performance telecom system ensures the fast and easy implementation of new intelligent services and the further enhancement of existing ones.
CBOSS solutions based on the EXS CSP enable carriers to offer a rich variety of services such as voice mail, short messages, electronic voting, alias numbers, and a visual service creation environment Many operators are already enjoying the exceptional flexibility, expandability, reliability, and high performance of the Excel platform.
Today CBOSS offers a range of products based on the switching platform, including:
- CBOSSprepaid
- CBOSSacc
- CBOSSaip
- CBOSSvmail
- CBOSSmissedCall
- CBOSSsms
- CBOSSussd
- CBOSSvote
- CBOSSstc
- CBOSScallback

- CBOSSsdp
These products are operating successfully in several Russian and foreign companies. Having initially deployed a solution from CBOSS, the carrier quickly begins to appreciate the benefits it brings and opts for more CBOSS products. Recently, comprehensive solutions based on EXS CSP have been gaining popularity. Also, the platform is totally backward compatible making the implementation of the product much simpler.
Our clients are already enjoying the following benefits of EXS CSP-based solutions from CBOSS:
- Exceptional reliability
- Redundancy and the hot swap option for all components
- High performance
- Scalability
- Investment protection
- Convergence
- High density cards
- Manageable distributed architecture
The exceptional reliability of the platform is ensured by the full redundancy of every component: the central processor, signaling controllers, line and voice cards, and the power supply. If the main component fails, all call and transaction data is routed to the redundant module, resulting in a stable QoS. CBOSS Corporation recommends the supporting of full redundancy for any subscriber base.
A high level of performance is ensured by modern cards. The recently announced third series boards are already included in the new high performance configurations. For example, the central processor board – MTX CTRL Series 3 –processes up to 120 calls per second. The signaling controller boards - SS7 Series 3 – support up to 600 TCAP transactions per second, while DSP2 voice cards support up to 512 ports simultaneously.
DSP2 cards are the next generation of the DSP-ONE card portfolio, significantly boosting the media functionalities of the platform. DSP2 enables the generation/detection of tones, voice message playback, online speech recording, and the reception/sending of faxes. In addition, the board features a high level of performance, supporting up to 512 ports and storing up to 3 hours of digital voice.
All cards are universal and can be used in different chassis - CSP 2040 and CSP 2090, ensuring cost-efficient expansion and investment protection. EXS CSP equipment features high density cards. Line boards based on a single E-ONE card support 2 to 16 Е1 lines, while signaling controller boards enable activation of 2 to 16 SS7 links.
The platform architecture ensures a single expandable distributed call processing network by linking up to 16 nodes (chassis). The nodes are linked to the 1.2 Gb/sec bandwidth by an optical ring. Additional media resources can be integrated, enabling such services as sms2voice/sms2fax (text2speech technology) and speech recognition based on the Excel Switching platform.
The EXS CSP platform supports a wide range of intelligent services in the Classic IN and Service Node configurations. A variety of telecom protocols are supported such as:
- R2
- DSS1
- V 5.2
- SS7 (ITU-T, ANSI)
- ISUP
- MAP
- IS-41
- CAMEL
- INAP
The platform is a reliable basis for convergent telecommunication systems. The combination of EXS CSP and CBOSS products ensures the seamless provisioning of a wide range of telecom services and innovative marketing campaigns, which have turned out to be profitable to both the telcos and their customers.
